We are pleased to announce that we’ve been nominated for a Virtusales Metadata Award by the Independent Publishers Guild (IPG).

So what is metadata?

To put it simply, metadata is data about data. In the context of what we do here at b small, metadata is all the information about what makes a book, a book. For example, we tag certain codes to our books so that if someone needs a specific book about a topic that we cover, they can find it. Being nominated for this award means that we do metadata really well—which is great because that means people are able to find our books!

What IPG said about us:

And here is what the judges for the award said about us: “b small has seen that metadata affects its whole business and has made a strategic, multi-year commitment to it. For a small publisher it’s an amazing amount of time and effort, and it’s good to see it getting the benefits.”
